Styling Mom Jeans.

Styling Mom Jeans.

Hello and Happy New Year my lovelies!! Can you believe we’re in another decade again?! Where has the time gone! Speaking of decades, it always amazes me how fashion from previous decades manages to come round again and again. One particular piece of fashion I love is mom jeans.

In my opinion they look great on all shapes and sizes and can be pretty versatile too. Which is why today I decided to show you how I like to style mom jeans!

So, onto the outfits!

Mom Jeans Outfit

1 . Date night! You can’t go wrong pairing any jeans with a pair of heels and a blazer, it’s the perfect way to dress up any outfit from day to night. And in my opinion it’s always a classy sophisticated look!

I love how this outfit can be dressed down by pairing everything with tanned loafers or flats of any colours and a bag!

Mom Jeans Outfit

2 . Smart Casual. I love this outfit for everyday wear, you can’t see them too well in my snaps by I’ve paired this floral top with pink slip ons to go with my bag. It feels very much like a Spring outfit to me, but to be honest, I wear this all year round with layers in the cold seasons!

Mom Jeans Outfit

Plus, who doesn’t love a good floral number and cute comfy shoes?!

Mom Jeans Outfit

3 . Comfy Cosy Casual. This outfit is perfect for a cinema date or just going out for the day. A cosy jumper and jeans combo is a staple you just have to have in you wardrobe for the cooler days and months. I personally like to accessorise this simple outfit with bold accessories to bring a bit of me to it!

Mom Jeans Outfit

I wish I had those Coca-Cola earrings and popcorn bag, but I have to admit, I do love my bubblegum machine earrings just as much!

Mom Jeans Outfit

4 . Classic and Simple. We’ve all got a simple white or black tee in our wardrobes somewhere, and even if we haven’t, you can get them super cheap in most clothes shops! I like pairing this with a simple cross-body bag and trainers or you can tie a tartan or checkered shirt around your waist to tie the look together!

Mom Jeans Outfit

Bonus points if you’ve got a huge oversized tartan shirt, those things can act as blankets when you got cold!

5 . Little Red Accents. What colour truly speaks date night other than bright red. Unfortunately I couldn’t find my red cami top to show you my look but I have got the outfit below for you to check out! This look is so chic and always looks effortless and sexy. Perfect for a date night or girls night!

Mom Jeans Outfit

And those are how I like to style mom jeans! I always feel good when I put an outfit together with these, and they are so comfy! It’s easy to just chuck on with a t-shirt with these and look chic, and will be a staple in my wardrobe for 2020 for sure!

How do you like to style mom jeans? And what’s your favourite look from these? Let me know in the comments!

Well, that’s all from me for today! See you next week lovelies! I hope you had a great start to the year so far!

Autumn Date Outfits.

Autumn Date Outfits.

Hello my lovelies!! Happy Saturday and happy Autumn! I’m so glad that the colder weather is finally here and I can pull out all of my cosy blankets and jumpers. As you may be able to tell, I’m much more of a Autumn/Winter gal, so I haven’t actually got any Summer blues!

So, what have I got in store for you this week? Well, I thought I’d take you through some cute, comfy and warm date night outfits that I love for when we’re getting into the colder seasons. And I love that dates become a little more magical in these seasons, after all, we’re in spooky seasons and then it’s time for Christmas!

Yes. I just said Christmas. Haha I have no shame at all.

And with that, let’s get into it!

1 . The classic red dress.

Can you even go wrong with a red dress for a date? I don’t think so! I love how cute this looks with boots and knitted tights, all you’ve gotta do is pop on a warm coat and you’re good to go!

2 . The jeans and a nice top combo.

We all know what this one is. We all do it. And there’s a reason why we all do this one. It’s so easy to put together, it’s super comfy, and you can dress it up of down. I personally love the bright accessories with this one!

3 . Denim skirts are in!

It’s that time of the year where you get to pull our all of those layers you couldn’t wear in Summer and pair them with a cute denim skirt. I think this is a great look for when you’re off out for day date!

4 . Oversized knitwear.

You know me, I love love love oversized jumpers and tees, so it’s only natural that we have an oversized knitwear, tights and boots combo. And could this outfit scream Autumn anymore?! Warm and very comfy!

5 . Black and red.

The classic colours for date nights. This is my personal favourite for date night nearly all year round. I love a monochrome outfit with bright accents, particularly the prime colours, red, blue and yellow. And since it’s date night, why not the supposed colour of love?! (I know, even I’m cringing about that last comment haha!)

And that’s a few pretty date day and night outfits you can use for Autumn going into Winter! What’re some of your favourite things to wear on dates and days out with your other half? I think we’ve all got a few things we wear that are our staples, but it’s nice to mix it up every now and again!

So, that’s all folks! Let me know what you’re favourite outfits are in the comments below! No matter what you wear, as long as you feel good, you’ll look pretty damn good too! To check out some of my outfits and keep up to date with days out I go on, follow me on Insta @theweightofmyworlds!

Have a great weekend my lovelies!

Why You Shouldn’t Care If Your Clothes Are Designed For Men or Women.

Why You Shouldn’t Care If Your Clothes Are Designed For Men or Women.

Happy Saturday lovelies! Who’s enjoying pride month? I know I am! I love all of the expression that comes with pride month, especially the fashion we see!

So, this week I did a bit of shopping and it occurred to me that I rarely see people looking for clothes in every section of the store, just because they’re labelled either for ‘men’ or ‘women’. But those labels never really seemed to both me, until now.

You see, I will shop in every part of a clothes shop. Not because I love to shop (and you know I do) but because you’d be surprised at some of the amazing clothes and shoes people are missing out on just because they’ve been labelled for the other gender.

I’d say about a quarter of my wardrobe is technically for ‘men’, and I have a few pieces which are for ‘kids’ or ‘teens’ (because I’m petite, I can get away with some kids clothes). Which is why I decided I’d show you some of my pieces that were made for ‘men’!

Here’s a red tee that I picked up at Peacocks, to be honest, I love them for their men’s clothes more than their women’s! This top is an xl too, which means I can wear it three ways!

Navy Mens tee

I love this tee so so much, and it’s another one from Peacocks! I always feel great in this top, and it’s perfect paired with jeans and trainers for a day look or heels for a night look!

Mens striped tee

If you’re looking for cheap clothes that are a good quality, then Tk Maxx is the place to go. Pairing this top with my thrifted Gucci bag (read more about my thrifting here!) and some slip on trainers is such a cute outfit you can wear for days out and about because it’s so comfy and cool.

mens jumper

I wear this jumper probably at least once a week. I picked this up at Tesco (f&f) in a size xxl because it was there was only one left and I just can’t resist a baggy jumper! I french tuck this into jeans or I wear it with leggings and boots. You can’t go wrong with either of those ideas!

Here’s another top from Tk Maxx and it was a bargain at £4.99! This might be my favourite top out of all my men’s tops. And I think this would look great on anyone!

Tartan f and f mens

And last but not least for this little collection is my super oversized tartan shirt from f&f which I think is a size xl. This one is great used as a cardigan with a vest top and jeans or as an oversized shirt tied up with jeans. This one is great for all seasons too!

And those are a few of my clothes that were supposed to be for men, that look damn good on everyone.

I always get a few weird looks when I’m looking for clothes in the ‘men’s’ section, but who cares?! At the end of the day, clothes are just fabric, why does that need to be gendered and labelled? It doesn’t. I wish clothes shops would just have one one label or sign: ‘Clothes for people’ in all sizes, shapes and colours. People shouldn’t feel restricted with what they’re wearing just because it’s ‘supposed’ to be for the other gender.

Fashion is an expression, just like makeup, and we should all feel able to wear and buy whatever we want to wear.

Have a great weekend everyone! And wear whatever you want to wear, no matter how weird it is, because

weird is wonderful!!

My Winter Staples.

My Winter Staples.

Hello lovelies!! Winter is in full swing and it’s absolutely freezing here! Which means I’m wrapping up in bundles of jumpers.. and my duvet. Since Winter is well under way, I thought I’d let you into what I’ve been loving and wearing this season.

Let’s get into it!

Winter Staples

1 . Striped Dresses.

I love stripes for every season, including when it gets chilly outside, and wearing them in the form of a dress with tights and boots looks so effortless chic in my opinion.

Winter Staples

2 . Bright Jewellery and Textured Skirts.

I’ve been seeing a lot of skirts in varying colours and textures popping up all over the place recently and I think they look great with a simple jumper, tights and trainers!

Winter Staples

3 . Chic and Comfy Oversized Jumpers.

Cosy jumpers are perfect for the cold months, and not to mention you can wear loads of layers with any form of bottoms. Plus, oversized jumpers are great for if you don’t feel like wearing a bra! Haha!

Winter Staples

4 . Black and White Skirts.

I’m absolutely in love with black and white patterns recently, and wearing them with a pop of colour looks gorgeous.

Winter Staples

5 . Simple Outfits with Unique Accessories.

For the days where I’m wanting to be super comfy but still need to go outside into the world, I find a simple top French tucked into ripped jeans looks fab as well as feeling like I’m still in pyjamas.

Winter Staples

6 . Nightwear for Day-wear.

Have you seen the pyjama shirts as day and date night wear? They look so chic and cute and I think they look amazing when paired with sleek hair, winged liner, a nude lip and simple accessories.

So those are my Winter Staples! To be honest, with Winter being my favourite time of year, I wear most of these things year round and they’re sort of my year round staples!

But all in all, wear whatever you want, as long as it makes you feel good!

What’re your fashion staples for this time of year? Let me know in the comments!

Finding My Style.

Finding My Style.

Hello my lovelies! I hope you’ve all had a good week so far and are wrapping up warm in the snowy weather we’ve been having!

So, since making my new years resolutions and reflecting on what I want for the year on my birthday, I’ve been on a bit of a self-discovery journey. To begin my journey I decided that I would finally break free from all of the current fashion trends and to put it simply.. wear whatever I wanted. Regardless of what other people think.

For too long I have only worn the clothes that people have given me a compliment in or if other people are wearing the same sort of thing. I never really strayed from what everyone else was wearing in my teens; because like everyone else, I just wanted to fit in.

Well, now I don’t care if I stand out. Or look weird to others.

I have been wearing whatever I want for the last few weeks and it’s seriously given me such a sense of freedom and expression. I only really realised how much I’d grown with my fashion when I was on Facetime with my sister, chatting whilst I had my own little fashion show/photoshoot and she mentioned how I’ve really grown into and found my style.

I’ve found a love of bright coloured accessories, bold patterns and outfits that I would never have put together before.Photo Of Me At 13 I do remember one time in my past where I did love bright colours, and that was in the form of tights.. neon pink to be exact. And I wore those pink tights with a black trilby, fur gilet, purple top, checked skirt and a pair of knee high black boots. Bold for a 13 year old, I know. I’ve even dug that photo out for you to laugh at, silly pose and all hahaha!

It’s actually kind of sad how our confidence disappears in our teen years. But I’m glad I’ve learnt now that fitting in isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.

It doesn’t matter what you want to wear, you should wear whatever you want, because you want to wear it. Also, if you wear something with confidence, it immediately looks good, because you feel good in it!

I have a few favourite pieces currently that always make me feel incredible when I’m wearing them; you can check them out below!

My favourite looks

One of my absolute favourite looks is wearing all black with big, bold and bright earrings and bright shoes/boots! I’m also loving oversized clothes and unique bags!

Fashion and finding my own style has been something that I always struggled with until I stopped looking for approval in other people. What’s funny is that when I go shopping now, everything I pick up gets weird looks from whoever’s with me, but as soon as I put everything together in an outfit and wore it confidently, they loved it!

So, moral of the story is where whatever the hell you want, if it makes you feel good and confident, then you’ll look great.

After all, as the Roald Dahl quote goes:

“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sun beams and you will always look lovely.”

Have a great week lovelies!! Love,

Cheap Christmas Pyjamas

Cheap Christmas Pyjamas

So, it’s November. None of of can believe it’s already November and Christmas will be here before we know it! And I think it’s pretty reasonable to start wearing Christmas pyjamas now we’re in November, and next week I think it’ll be acceptable to start wearing Christmas jumpers; I know I’ll start wearing mine then. So, I’ve put together some great sets and a dress that look cosy and cute!

These pyjamas are great as a Christmas present for someone special or as a present for yourself! All of these one and two pieces are less than £20 total as no one wants to spend more than that on something they’re going to sleep in. Or live in everyday as soon as you get in from work/not leaving the house, up to you.

Let’s get into it. (All images are credited to and are from the stated shops!)

Primark Pyjamas

1 . This cute polar bear pyjama set from Primark! You can find the set here! It’s an adorable set for anyone that doesn’t want something that screams ‘IT’S CHRISTMAS!!’ right in your face. And nice and cheap for £10!

2 . I found a few sets from Primark that were a great price for some cute pyjamas! (You can find them here.) These naughty and nice sets go for just £6 each; absolute bargain! And perfect for if you want to match with a bestie!

3 . Here’s the last set I found from Primark and I think it’s my favourite. Anyone that knows me knows that one of my favourite Christmas movies is ‘the Grinch who stole Christmas’ so when I saw these I was a very happy lady! The jumper is £10, the top is £6 and the leggings are £8! I love that with these you can pick which type of pyjama top or bottoms you want because not everyone will want a long sleeve jumper or shorts to sleep in!

4 . For those who love the film ‘Elf’, this one’s for you! You can get this set from NewLook for £19.99 and would make a great Christmas present. But if you’re like me and can’t wait for this time of year, then you can always buy it for yourself! They also do it for men too! You can get the set for men by NewLook here from ASOS.

ASOS Pyjama Set

5 . I love this set from ASOS, it looks so pretty and comfy! Find it here for exactly £20. And one of the things I love about ASOS is their free returns policy and their sizing helper so you’re able to actually find the right size and fit you want!

H and M pyjama short set

6 . This set is from H&M and is not in your face Christmassy but I think it looks comfy and is great if you’re not into long pyjamas. And this set is only £9.99, find it here!

Pug ASOS night dress

7 . For those of you that don’t like pants/pyjama bottoms, here’s a cute night dress with Christmas pugs all over it! I think this will be perfect for after Christmas dinner when all clothes are too tight! Find it from ASOS here!

So there’s a few cheap pyjama sets and a dress that will be perfect as a gift or as a present for yourself! I’ll certainly be buying myself some of these, I live in pyjamas haha. Have a great weekend lovelies!! Let me know if you buy any of these and what you think!

Statement Fashion Ideas I Want To Try

Statement Fashion Ideas I Want To Try

Hey everyone! This week I’ve been looking at loads of stylish looks on Pinterest and have decided that I’m going to try these out this summer. There’s several accessories that I feel make these a full ‘look’; hats, bold lipstick, glasses, bold shoes and bag combo, bold clothes in general, braces/suspenders and bold jewellery.

So here’s my inspiration for the next coming weeks!

To check out more of my inspo (since you can’t see all of my pins here!) go to my Pinterest and check them out!

Obviously it’s going to be a little expensive to try all of these things out, so I’m definitely planning a trip to Primark to cut the costs down a bit and I’ll probably check out Asos and a few other online shops for ideas! And if I try out some of these things and it doesn’t work out for me, maybe I’ll do a giveaway!

(All of the images you’re going to see below are featured on my Pinterest so if you want to check out where things are from then you’ll be able to find info on them there!)

So, here’s some hats I can’t wait to find and try:

Here’s my bold Red lipstick inspo:

Here’s my inspo to try wearing glasses:

I love a bright shoe and/or bag with an outfit, especially because I wear a lot of monochrome stuff. So here’s my inspo:

I’ve always loved how suspenders look on men and women, so this is something I can’t wait to try! Here’s my inspo:

And finally… here’s some bright and bold outfits and accessories I can’t wait to try on!

I can’t wait to try out some new things and maybe develop my personal fashion style a bit further and make it a bit more fun since at the moment it’s pretty much just black and white clothes and jeans.. And considering a love colour it’s so boring at the moment!

I’ll definitely do some updates on how I find trying these new looks out and what I’ll be keeping and what I could be giving away! Bright colours always scared me when it came to fashion because I’m super pale, but recently I’ve realised that it doesn’t matter what you skin tone is or what other people think about what you’re wearing. Moral of the story is that it doesn’t matter what other people think about your style, and you should wear whatever you want and fashion is there to be experimented with!!

So that’s it from me today my lovelies.. Do you have any new style items you want to try? If so, let me know in the comments below! Have a great weekend!! Love,

Summer Staples

Summer Staples

Hello everyone! Hope you’re outside enjoying the sunshine, after all, summer is finally here!!

So.. today I’ll be taking you through my style staples for this summer! A lot has changed for me since last summer, so my fashion has changed a lot too! And on that note, let’s dive in!

  1. Stripes.

Stripes were a staple for me during spring and now again for summer! The only difference between my stripes in summer is that we’re all about bright, bold colours that pop! You can find these at Newlook!

2. Crop tops.

I’ve always been self conscious about my stomach, and I never thought I would be confident enough to wear them! Oh how times are changing!! I love crop tops paired with high-waisted jeans, high-wasted shorts and midi skirts. I think anyone and everyone can rock the crop top trend regardless of size or shape, if you feel beautiful, everyone will see that! (partly because you are.. duh!) You can find these at Pretty Little Thing!

3. Sunglasses.

This one’s a no brainer, it’s summer, you’re gonna need some shades! I love how putting on a pair of sunglasses makes me feel, like a boss ass bitch. Put those sunnies on and enjoy the sun! You can find these at H&M!

4. Maxi dresses.

These are something that I struggle to find for myself because I’m only 5ft 2 inches tall! Which means it’s a mission to find a maxi dress that doesn’t drag along the floor! So here’s some dresses for ladies of all heights, shapes and sizes! Find these at Boohoo!

5. T-shirt dresses.

I love love love t-shirt dresses, they’re so comfy and can be dressed up and down! I like wearing these with tights on cold evenings if I’m off out with long necklaces and heeled ankle boots. These dresses are all from ASOS and most of them are available in all body types/sizes!

6. Denim Jackets.

I’ve always struggled with this trend as I’ve never really known how to wear denim jackets; but recently I’ve found that I love wearing my denim jacket with t-shirt dresses during the day or with jeans in a different tone with a cute top! These are all from Topshop and they have so many more styles online in loads of colours!

7. White trousers/jeans.

This one can be a scary one for some people to wear, for example; me. I’m always terrified I’m going to spill something on them or sit in something! But I’ve sort of come to terms with that fear and now I love wearing them on a bright sunny day! Pairing these with a bright or cropped top is always a winner! Go to RiverIsland to check out some more of these!

8. Bright Bags.

Bright bold bags are super cute for summer, whether it’s a big shoulder bag, crossbody or clutch, these will make any outfit fun and ready for summer. Above are some that I love! Who would’ve thought that Next would have such cute bags!!

9. High-waist trousers.

These look great nearly all year round, but for summer, tie waist trousers have been one of my go-tos. They look great paired with a cami top tucked in, some cute heels and a blazer! Perfect for a night out or wear them more casual with sandals instead of heels. Find these at Newlook!

10. Shorts.

Shorts are always a summer staple, regardless of the year. When it’s really hot you don’t want to be walking around with loads of fabrics on! So, that’s why shorts are perfect because if it is a little warm with a breeze, I love wearing shorts with a slightly oversized light jumper and cute trainers. It can take a while to find the right pair of shorts for you, but it will be worth the wait! You can get these from ASOS!

So that’s my summer staples for this year. Hope you enjoyed checking them out and maybe you found something on here that you’re going to add to your own summer staples! If you’re not sure about wearing something new, I’d totally recommend trying it out at least for a day, but more often than not, you’ll find that you look amazing!

What are your summer staples? Let me know in the comments so I can try them out!!

Have a great bank holiday everyone!! Love,

Making A Capsule Wardrobe.

Making A Capsule Wardrobe.

Do you ever see those capsule wardrobe pictures on Pinterest and think about how nice they look? Yeah, me too. I’ve tried over and over again to create a wardrobe exactly like the ones on Pinterest and failed every time. Mainly because it meant throwing away loads of clothes I owned and spending loads of money to buy the pieces in the pictures.

So, after lots of thinking and going through my wardrobe about 5 times in the space on 2 months..(I think I’ve stocked my local charity shop for months now!) I managed to get my clothes down to what I feel good in and things I just can’t bear to get rid of. The final time I cleared out my wardrobe was last week, and I was pretty ruthless with everything because I used to be a bit of a hoarder and I buy way to many clothes anyway!(I used a clear out chart that I’ve put a bit further down for you to check out!)

With capsule wardrobes it’s important to note that how many pieces you have is an individual preference.

Why do I love capsule wardrobes? Here’s why:

  • They make getting ready easy.
  • They look pretty and chic.
  • Less space is taken up from clothes.
  • Everything is de-cluttered and organised.
  • It’s easy to pack for trips.
  • You can develop your own style.

Here’s my capsule wardrobe inspo:

Here’s how I cleared out my wardrobe. First of all I started by deciding roughly how many pieces I wanted my wardrobe to have. After a fair amount of thought, I came up with 40 pieces for an all year round capsule wardrobe; not including coats, gym wear, occasion wear and shoes. This is the method I used to clear out my clothes!

Clothes Detox

Click Here to Download your own free copy love from me!

After clearing out all the clothes you want to sell or donate, take a bit of time out before you refill your wardrobe with pieces you need. Have a go living with less clothing, and see how you get on.

If you’re like me and don’t wear a huge amount of colour, then you’ll find you probably see that you have already got a colour scheme, you just didn’t realise it. I don’t necessarily think that you need a strict colour palette when making a capsule wardrobe, so long as you love all the pieces and can make several outfits that you love with them. But if you do want a set colour scheme for you wardrobe but are unsure of where to start, here’s some ideas!

Colour Palettes

Now that you’ve decided on a colour scheme, I would recommend you decide which wardrobe staples you want, that can stay in your wardrobe all year round if you’re looking to rotate seasonal wardrobes.

Here’s most of my staples!! With my wardrobe, I’ve decided to have several pieces that are folded up and away from my typical wardrobe as I can then swap pieces throughout the year to make my clothes relevant to the season!

Finally, when you go shopping for clothes, try and invest in better quality pieces. I wont lie, I love Primark, so I do still get a lot of my pieces from there.. Mostly simple staples. I try and swap something new for something old where I can!

I hope this helps you make your own capsule wardrobe.. Or just sort through yours!! Have a great weekend everyone!

Going Minimalist.

Going Minimalist.

So, what is minimalism, and why have I decided to go minimalist?

Minimalism is usually defined as the process of identifying what is essential in your life and eliminating the rest, so less is more.

So, why minimalist? Well, I’ve always loved how minimalist rooms look, and it seemed like a nice way of leaving stress behind and away from your personal space/stuff. My head has felt a bit scrambled, more than usual recently and in order to de-clutter my head I thought a good way to do that was to physically de-clutter my possessions. You see, I’ve always been a bit of a hoarder.. Never mountains and mountains of stuff so you can’t move around in your own home, but just generally not throwing away silly little things for some reason, which gradually built up over time.

Going minimalist isn’t something that I would suggest doing over night. It can take a fair bit of time. For me it’s taken about two weeks to get my space cleared out, and I think there’s still some more stuff I’ll throw away in the coming weeks. If you’re thinking of going minimalist, I would suggest you set yourself a plan before you begin. Because I’m a person that likes writing lists, I made two. The first one was:

  1. Get yourself some inspiration.
  2. Pick a time-frame.
  3. List what areas you are going to clean out and sort through.

If you’re thinking of going minimalist and wanting some inspiration, here’s a Pinterest Board I made for inspiration:

Once you’ve got your inspiration and set your time-frame, it’s wise to write a list of what you want to sort out and throw away. I set myself a time-frame of two weeks to do the initial clear out; I decided one area per day was feasible for me. If you’re struggling for where to start which clearing out your stuff, here’s my clear out list:

  1. Clothes and Shoes. (I created a Capsule Wardrobe – post coming soon)
  2. Underwear, Bags and Purses.
  3. Toiletries, Makeup and Nail Polishes.
  4. Papers, Books and Magazines.
  5. DVDs.
  6. Electronics and CDs.
  7. Receipts, Bills and Important Documents.
  8. Stationary and Hobby Stuff.
  9. Junk Drawers and Random Boxes.
  10. Workspace.
  11. Emails, Subscriptions and Phone Apps.
  12. Photos and Sentimental Stuff.
  13. The Car.
  14. The Mind.

By going minimalist, I’ve been able to stream line getting ready for everything, all because I know and can see exactly what I own. I also feel less stressed, can find anything I need quickly and I now have more space.

I found it easy to fall into the trap of organising instead of purging, so I would recommend having an image that was your inspiration or write down why you’re going minimalist so you don’t just organise and keep unnecessary things. I’ve decided that if I don’t use it and it’s not an important document or sentimental then I need to lose it.

Something I’ve learnt from this is to stop bargain hunting. This one is a big one for me, I love a good bargain, but that’s part of the reason why I needed a good clear out in the first place. So I’ve started avoiding meaningless impulse shopping, which has been pretty good for keeping my room clear and my bank account fuller.

When I decide to buy something, I try and think of how it will be used in my room in six months time. If I think it will be no longer useful then, I have to think if it was really worth my money right now? Is it something that I am willing to swap/replace another item I own.

As I was sorting through everything I made a few different piles of stuff:

  • Keep.
  • Bin.
  • Check back in 6 weeks.
  • Charity.

Putting everything into different piles allowed me to sort through everything without any guilt. I decided to have a ‘check back in 6 weeks’ pile because some things I was not ready to give or throw away. Becoming minimalist is going to be a bit of an ongoing project of mine, I plan to go through everything every 6 months to make sure I don’t re-clutter and keep everything streamlined.

Just a pre-warning, when you start clearing stuff out, it will look worse before it gets better. So don’t worry if your space looks like a bombs hit it!! Here’s my room before and during the clear out!!

I ended up finding that I had 200 DVDs, about half a wardrobe of clothes & shoes that I didn’t wear or that didn’t fit which were donated to charity and I had roughly 11 bin bags full of just general rubbish that I used to hide away in my wardrobe. I realised that having 200 DVD’s was taking up a large amount of space and just didn’t look great on display and
I had no space for them anywhere else; then I had a flash back to the 90’s where we all carried around CD books with us everywhere. So that’s why I then ordered a big DVD case that holds 208 discs from Amazon, which can be taken anywhere and it’s nice knowing all my films are in the same place.

Here’s some pictures of my space now it’s all cleared out!!

Hope you all have a great week and let me know if you try going minimalist!
