Autumn Date Outfits.

Autumn Date Outfits.

Hello my lovelies!! Happy Saturday and happy Autumn! I’m so glad that the colder weather is finally here and I can pull out all of my cosy blankets and jumpers. As you may be able to tell, I’m much more of a Autumn/Winter gal, so I haven’t actually got any Summer blues!

So, what have I got in store for you this week? Well, I thought I’d take you through some cute, comfy and warm date night outfits that I love for when we’re getting into the colder seasons. And I love that dates become a little more magical in these seasons, after all, we’re in spooky seasons and then it’s time for Christmas!

Yes. I just said Christmas. Haha I have no shame at all.

And with that, let’s get into it!

1 . The classic red dress.

Can you even go wrong with a red dress for a date? I don’t think so! I love how cute this looks with boots and knitted tights, all you’ve gotta do is pop on a warm coat and you’re good to go!

2 . The jeans and a nice top combo.

We all know what this one is. We all do it. And there’s a reason why we all do this one. It’s so easy to put together, it’s super comfy, and you can dress it up of down. I personally love the bright accessories with this one!

3 . Denim skirts are in!

It’s that time of the year where you get to pull our all of those layers you couldn’t wear in Summer and pair them with a cute denim skirt. I think this is a great look for when you’re off out for day date!

4 . Oversized knitwear.

You know me, I love love love oversized jumpers and tees, so it’s only natural that we have an oversized knitwear, tights and boots combo. And could this outfit scream Autumn anymore?! Warm and very comfy!

5 . Black and red.

The classic colours for date nights. This is my personal favourite for date night nearly all year round. I love a monochrome outfit with bright accents, particularly the prime colours, red, blue and yellow. And since it’s date night, why not the supposed colour of love?! (I know, even I’m cringing about that last comment haha!)

And that’s a few pretty date day and night outfits you can use for Autumn going into Winter! What’re some of your favourite things to wear on dates and days out with your other half? I think we’ve all got a few things we wear that are our staples, but it’s nice to mix it up every now and again!

So, that’s all folks! Let me know what you’re favourite outfits are in the comments below! No matter what you wear, as long as you feel good, you’ll look pretty damn good too! To check out some of my outfits and keep up to date with days out I go on, follow me on Insta @theweightofmyworlds!

Have a great weekend my lovelies!

Outfits For All Seasons

Outfits For All Seasons

Good morning my lovelies! How’s March been treating you so far? The weather here is doing all sorts at the moment so no one knows what to wear! Which led me to todays post, my style must-haves. We all have our favourite pieces in our wardrobes that stay in our rotations all year round, so I thought I’d show you some outfits that work with some of my staples, for all seasons!

Let’s get into it!

Comfy Mom Jeans

1 . Black Jumper and Mom Jeans combo. This is my favourite outfit of the bunch. I got myself some mom jeans in the past few months and they’ve been a staple for me ever since, especially paired with a baggy jumper. It’s a chic and comfy outfit that is great for the office if you’re allowed to wear ripped jeans!
Tailored Shorts Outfit

2 . Tailored Shorts with a Simple Tee. It’s great for all seasons when paired with tights and a jacket for Winter or by itself for Summer! These can also be dressed up or down, al you have to do is add some heels or cute flats and you’re ready to go out in the evening.

Little Black Dress
3 . We all know this one, the staple Little Black Dress. This is another one which can be dressed up or down, and can be put with any accessories and look great. Put this dress with simple accessories and a glowy dewy makeup look and you’re good to go for a night out! Or do the opposite and add bright makeup and you’re also ready to hit the town!

Mom Jeans outfit

4 . The Graphic Tee with a Blazer. You can’t really go wrong with this one to be honest, whether it’s jeans, trousers, a skirt or shorts, this always looks great for any occasion and can be great in every season. I love this look as it’s fun and comfy whilst still being chic and elegant!

Little Red Dress

5 . The Little Red Dress. It’s a great version of the LBD but with that extra umph. Dress this with boots and tights in Winter or by itself with sandals and you’re good for Spring! I love how classy and just generally very pretty this one is!!

Spring Skirt Outfit

6 . The Denim Skirt. I think everyone has owned a denim skirt at some point in their life, and I think they’re a staple for any season, like some of the other outfits, the right pair of tights and jacket can transform this from a Spring/Summer look to Autumn/Winter look in a matter of seconds. I personally love this look, especially with a bright belt and bag!

So those are just a few outfits that you can make out of some style staples you may have in your wardrobe; don’t you just love how one classic item can be transformed with a few accessories?!

What do you like to wear with some of your favourite items?? Let me know in the comments! I always love hearing how you like to style pieces, and I love trying them out for myself! Comfy clothes are the best in my opinion, so anytime I can wear them and look chic is a bonus.

Have a great weekend lovelies!

What’s In My Makeup Bag?

What’s In My Makeup Bag?

Happy Saturday lovelies! This week I’m going to be showing you what I have in my makeup bag! These are the products that I use on a daily basis to give myself a little boost and then what I use when I’m off out or having photos taken.

Most of my makeup is pretty cheap, and can be found at your local Boots or Superdrug and then I have a few products that are a little pricier but not too expensive.

So, let’s get into it!

Here’s everything in my makeup bag:

Strobe Stick

13 . Strobe StickBarry M Illuminating Strobe Cream Highlighter, and is £4.49.

Liquid Lipstick

14 . Liquid Lipstick – Maybelline Super Stay Liquid Lipstick, I can’t find the link online for these but these are a great long lasting liquid lip! I think they’re around £8?

Lipstick

15 . Lipstick – The True Lips lipstick is one I found in Boots (can also be found in The Range) just before Christmas and has been a staple ever since then for me, and the other lipstick is one my mum got from Amazon for Christmas!

Setting Spray

16 . Setting Spray – My favourite budget setting spray, NYX Professional Makeup Setting Spray Dewy I love this spray so much and it’s so cheap at £7!!

Here’s what I wear on days where I don’t want to wear much makeup but still want that little boost:

  • Concealer – just a little under the eyes if I need it, and set it with a little powder.
  • Eyebrow gel – I use a clear gel just to shape and keep my brows in shape!
  • Mascara – I curl my eyelashes and then put on a dark brown mascara.
  • Strobe stick cream – I use a little bit of this on the top of my cheekbones (well.. more like where the top of my cheekbones are supposed to be, I have no cheekbones).
  • Colour changing lipstick/balm – I use this every. single. day. It’s a great moisturiser and brightens up my face perfectly.
  • Setting spray – I just use a tiny bit of this to set what’s on my face and I’m done!

Here’s my full face look:

Selfie with makeup
Please ignore my super damaged hair here haha!

What I wear on full face days (basically everything in my bag haha):

  • Primer – This goes all over my face and let it sink in for about 20 seconds.
  • Foundation – I use my Morphe Fluidity Foundation and I put that all over my face using a beauty blender.
  • Concealer – I put two small stokes under each eye and blend it in with a sponge that is in the shape of a lipstick of all things! But it’s shape is perfect for getting the concealer right under my eyes.
  • Setting Powder – I bake my under eyes using my lipstick shaped sponge so I look bright and like I’ve actually got some sleep. I then finish setting my foundation with a powder pouf.
  • Eyebrow pencil – I outline my brows and then use a brush to blend the colour into my natural brows to give them a little umph.
  • Eyebrow gel – I use this after filling my brows in to make sure they hold their shape all day.
  • Eye shadow – I use a simple neutral shade in my crease and then depending on the day I add either brighter colours, and I love a subtle spotlight eye.
  • Eyeliner – I love felt-tip liners and I tend to do a simple thin line, and on days where my liner is going well I’ll add a wing. I also use a white pencil liner for my bottom waterline as it completely brightens my eyes up.
  • Mascara – I curl my lashes and then put mascara on my top and bottom lashes.
  • Contour – I use a fan brush and swipe this where my cheek bones are supposed to be and under my jaw line.
  • Blush – I literally just swipe this over my cheeks and then a little over my nose as I love that super dewy, naturally flushed and glowy look.
  • Highlighter – I put this on the tip of my nose, along the bridge of my nose, ontop of my cheekbones, my temples, my cupids bow and a little on my forehead and chin where the light hits.
  • Liquid Lip or Lipstick – Depending on what I’m doing on the day I’ll put on a liquid lip or my colour changing balm/lipstick.
  • Setting Spray – I soak my face with this and then use a card or fan to dry everything in, and my face then lasts all day and my skin returns to skin again!

So that’s what I have in my regular makeup rotation and bag! I have a few more products here and there, especially lipsticks, I have loads and loads of lipsticks; but they don’t get worn too often because I tend to smudge them everywhere haha.

What do you have in your makeup bag? Did you find any products here that you’re going to try? Let me know in the comments!!

Have a great weekend lovelies,

Cheap Christmas Pyjamas

Cheap Christmas Pyjamas

So, it’s November. None of of can believe it’s already November and Christmas will be here before we know it! And I think it’s pretty reasonable to start wearing Christmas pyjamas now we’re in November, and next week I think it’ll be acceptable to start wearing Christmas jumpers; I know I’ll start wearing mine then. So, I’ve put together some great sets and a dress that look cosy and cute!

These pyjamas are great as a Christmas present for someone special or as a present for yourself! All of these one and two pieces are less than £20 total as no one wants to spend more than that on something they’re going to sleep in. Or live in everyday as soon as you get in from work/not leaving the house, up to you.

Rainbow Cake Recipe

Rainbow Cake Recipe

Hello my lovelies! Who’s in the mood for some cake? Because this week I’ll be giving you my recipe for a big rainbow cake! And to make this cake even better (because who doesn’t like rainbow cake..) this recipe can be diary free should you need it to be!!

This cake is a simple vanilla sponge cake and can be adapted for any flavour of cake! I use this for all of my cakes and I’ve never had someone not like it. You can also make this into cupcakes – I’ll probably do a cupcake recipe soon too.

So, here’s what the cake looks like:

Rainbow Cake

Looks pretty tasty doesn’t it!

Right, onto what you’re going to need, I’ve put together a shopping list you can download here!

For the cake:

  • 9 oz Salted Butter (it can be spreadable or not, I used Vitalite as my mum is intolerant to buttermilk!)
  • 9 oz Caster Sugar
  • 9 oz Self-Raising Flour (make sure you save a little flour to thicken up your cake batter if you need it!)
  • 6 Large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Red, Orange, Green, Purple and Blue Food Gels (these can be found in sets or separately)
  • Baking Paper
  • Cake tins (2 minimum, I used 6, but it can be done with 2!)
  • A cake stand or plate to put the cake on!

For the icing:

  • Salted Butter (I eye-balled this and made more icing when needed)
  • Icing sugar (I eye-balled this too, but would recommend getting 2 large bags of icing sugar, this icing is all personal preference!)
  • Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue Food Gels
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • White chocolate icing tubes – I got these from Tesco (pipe dairy free chocolate if you’re making this dairy free!)
  • Any other decorations you want to use! (I used smarties)

So, onto making the cake! Here’s a quick clip of the process!

1 . Pre-heat the oven to 180°C for fan-assisted ovens or 200°C for other ovens.

2 . Lay out baking paper on the worktop and draw around the bottom of your cake tins and cut them out, I recommend cutting out the baking paper like this: Baking paper After this I grease my baking tins and put the grease proof paper into the tins shiny side up. Then put the tins aside for a bit later.

3 . Measure out all of your ingredients. When making this cake I luckily had access to 6 cake tins, but if you’ve only got 2 tins don’t worry, to bake your cake in batches of two cake layers, use measurements of 3 oz per ingredient and repeat this another 2 times, which will give you 6 layers of cake.

4 . Add the butter and sugar into a big mixing bowl and cream them together.

5 . Then sift in the flour , pour in the eggs, add the vanilla extract and mix together. I usually start mixing with a wooden spoon and then move onto using an electric whisk. If the cake batter is too runny then you can add a little more flour. (I love how you can just chuck everything in the bowl with this recipe!).

6 . Once the batter is mixed, separate the batter into bowls into equal parts for however many tins you’re using.

7 . Then, add in the food colouring gels! I used quite a lot to make my cake extra bright, but it’s up to you how much you use!

8 . Pour your batter into your tins and smooth it around to make sure it’s evenly dispersed. (When you pour in the batter, it may seem like you’ve not got enough, but the cake will rise a little and you don’t want the layers too thick or the cake will topple over!).

9 . Bake the cakes for 13-15 minutes and check they’re cooked through with something small and sharp, I use toothpicks, if it has no batter on it, it’s cooked! Take out the cakes and place them on a cooling rack.

10 . Repeat stages 1-9 twice if you’re using 2 tins per time! When you’ve taken your yellow cake out of the tin, use a knife (or cookie cutter) to cut out a circle from the middle. Then slice the cake in half; this will leave you with two rainbow layers for the top of the cake! Then you can go ahead and snack on the circle of cake you just cut out haha.

11 . Whilst your cakes are baking and cooling, it’s time to make the butter cream! This one doesn’t have specific measurements as everyone has their own preference for how they like their buttercream to taste. I use quite a large amount of butter and icing sugar.

12 . I begin mixing the butter and icing sugar together with a fork so the icing sugar doesn’t create a huge icing sugar cloud, and once most of the icing sugar is mixed in I go in with an electric whisk to make the buttercream light and fluffy.

13 . Put about 4/5 of the buttercream into a piping bag (you can use a sandwich bag if you haven’t got one! Or you can get a box of disposable ones from Tesco). Then begin by putting a small amount of icing onto the cake stand/plate to stick your blue layer of cake onto the stand/plate.

14 . Then pipe layers of icing onto each cake layer, the colours should go (bottom to top): Blue, Purple, Green, Orange and finally Red. Then cover the top and sides of the cake in buttercream and smooth out as best as you can.

15 . To help smooth out the buttercream further I use baking paper, shiny side to the cake, and use your hand against the paper to smooth over the icing.

16 . After you’ve smoothed out the cake, ice the two rainbow shaped layers together, add icing to the top layers of the rainbow shape and put on top of the cake and smooth over with baking paper.

17 . Separate the left over buttercream into 5 bowls and add in the food colouring gels.

18 . Put the coloured icing into different piping bags or sandwich bags and pipe over the rainbow to give it some colour!

19 . The add on some white mini marshmallows onto the bottom of the rainbow so it looks like clouds.

20 . Then warm up the white chocolate icing tubes (follow the instructions on the tubes for preparing them) and squeeze drips over the edge of the cake and cover the top layer.

21 . Finally, decorate with any sweets you want and enjoy!

Here’s how it looks when it’s finished!

I hope you like how this cake looks and tastes!! If you decide to make this yourself then please tag me in any photos you put on instagram @theweightofmyworlds or on twitter @worldsweights, I’d love to see your cake creations!

Have a lovely week everyone, you’re the best! Love,
