10 Random Acts Of Kindness.

10 Random Acts Of Kindness.

Hello my lovelies! How’s your week been? I’ve been busy working on several projects at the non-profit I work for, plus we were given an award for supporting apprenticeships along with some cupcakes! It was something that was simple and small and it really brightened up our week.

And it got me thinking about how in a few weeks time we have #RandomActsOfKindnessDay and how all of the little acts of kindness others do for us that can brighten up our day.

So I thought I’d list some of the small random acts of kindness I have received and given to give us all some ideas on how we can brighten up someone’s day.

10 Random Acts Of Kindness Pin

1 . Giving someone a compliment. Give someone a genuine compliment on their personality.

2 . Opening the door for someone. Don’t you just hate it when someone has opened the door for someone in front of you but you’re just that bit too far away and they let it go just as you get there? Just holding the door open for that little bit longer can really make a difference to someone’s mood during the day.

3 . Put out your neighbours bins or defrost their car for them. I hate having to defrost my car in the morning, but whenever I do I defrost my mums too because she always leaves a few minutes after me, and it just makes the start of your day easier when you’ve got one less thing to think about.

4 . Check in on someone you haven’t heard from in a while. Living in an all work all the time era, it’s easy to forget to check in with the people you care about, so make an effort to check in with them. You never know, it could be just what they needed.

5 . Offer to babysit for someone who could use a break for some selfcare. Not everyone can afford to have a day/night off and get a babysitter, so offer to look after the kids for a few hours so they can have some well deserved me-time.

6 . Give the people who help you on a regular basis a small gift or thank you card, this could be your postman, postwoman, delivery driver, bin men or bus driver! It’s guaranteed to put a spring in their step!

7 . Simply smile at people, it’s infectious. Have you ever been having a bad day and had someone just smile at you? It makes everything just a little bit better, and it’s such a simple thing you can do!

8 . Give blood/sign up to donate your organs. I think everyone should sign up to donate their organs, and give blood if they are able to. It really could save a person’s life, and someone else doing the same could save yours if you needed it!

9 . Let someone go in front of you in the que. Have you ever been in the que trying to get just 2 things and someone in front of you have about 50? Isn’t it just amazing when they let you go first?

10 . Finally, be kind to yourself. Do something kind for yourself, after all, you’re the one who has to live with yourself for the rest of your life; and you won’t be able to go and be kind to others to the best of your ability if you’re not being kind to yourself first.

And with all of that, those are my 10 random acts of kindness you can do for someone. It might be hard to see how one simple small action can have such a big impact on someones day, but it really can.

What small acts of kindness do you do for those around you? Let me know in the comments!

Have a great week my lovelies!

Taking Some Me Time.

Taking Some Me Time.

Happy Saturday my lovelies! This week we’re talking me-time. Self-care. Down-Time. Whatever you like to call it, I’m letting you into how I like to make time for myself.

We all have stressful days here and there, and we all deal with them in different ways, so this week I’m hoping to either give you some ideas on how you can make time for yourself. Or this’ll just be a healthy reminder of some of the small things you’re already doing without realising it’s something you do to make yourself feel good as self-care.

Self-care is often perceived as a bubble bath and a face mask in my eyes, and don’t get me wrong, those’re definitely I like to do to relax too, but there’s loads of other small things I do for some me-time.

So, enough blabbering from me, here’s what I like to do!

Get an early nights sleep.

Good night sleep

Who doesn’t like staying in bed? If we love having lay-ins so much why not go to bed earlier and have longer in bed? I struggle to actually stay in bed once I’ve woken up – which is usually around 7 without my alarm so going to bed earlier let’s me have at least an extra hour in bed without feeling like I’ve wasted the next day.

Spending time on my hair.

hair care

Ever since I decided I wasn’t going to straighten my natural curls and waves anymore, I started taking care of my hair in a way that I have never done before. Before I’d brush it like mad, hate the frizz and straighten it everyday all whilst using sulfates and silicones on my hair damaging it. Whereas now I do bi-weekly protein and moisture hair masks, use more natural hair products and I avoid using heat at all costs. It takes more time than before, but I like to listen to my favourite music and spend that time in the moment, relaxing.

Organising my things.

organisation

I love a tidy room. And I’ve learnt overtime that when I begin to see mess piling up in my room it’s a sign that mental health is taking a dip. So I then take time to get everything organised and make sure that I do spend some more time doing things that make me feel good(in other words, what’s on this list!).

Taking a bubble bath.

Bubble Bath

It’s a classic I know, but I won’t deny that I enjoy a big bubble bath with candles, Netflix on my laptop and a nice cold drink. There’s not much else to say about that one!

Listening to my body.

snacks in bed

This is new to me. Something you may or may not know about me is that I struggle with back problems (I’ll do a post about it all at some point!), and for me that means that I’m near enough in some form of constant pain. Sucks I know, but life goes on! Because I’m often in pain, over time I stopped listening to what my body needs and then suffering because of it. So recently I’m trying to actually listen to how my body is feeling and if I’m struggling then I give myself permission to simply stay home in my bed with snacks.

Doing my physio exercises.

physio

Leading on from my last one, when I’m in pain that can be an indicator that I should try doing some more of my physio exercises to try and ease my pain. Plus, this helps me in the long run, and it’s time well spent since it then make the next day a bit easier on my body!

Reading a good book.

book

Who doesn’t like to curl up somewhere cosy with a good book? I’m currently reading ‘Happy Fat’ by Sofie Hagen and I’m loving it. It’s all about loving yourself, how society continues to spread fat phobic messages (whether we’re aware of it or not) and why you should stop hating your body.

Making myself a cup of tea.

reading

If you’ve been here since the start of  ‘The Weight Of My Worlds’ then you’ll know that I’m a bit of a tea addict.. which is why I’ve recently switch to exclusively decaf tea! And I try to stay mindful when I’m making my tea and of course I just love a good cuppa. Bonus points if it’s in a super cute mug like this!

Watching old TV series’ that I love.

Although disputed, I love old TV series that are no longer in circulation or that came out years ago, in particular crime/CSI style shows like Bones, Castle, NCIS, CSI and so many more. That doesn’t make me weird does it? Well.. I don’t care anyway haha it’s great television.

Spending time on my hobbies.

Drawing

I have a long long list of hobbies, most of them creative. So I like to spend time drawing, painting, sculpting, up-cycling, sewing, playing the piano and interior design. I can’t count how many times I’ve redone my room in some way, in fact, I’m actually re-painting mine as we speak!

Styling clothes.

You look good when you feel good, right? I certainly do. Plus I was known for changing my outfit multiple times a day when I was younger, but what can I say, I like to change things up! I wear different styles depending on my mood and creating and styling clothes based on that is always fun.

And that’s it from me! Those are some of the things that I like to do when I’m needing some me-time. There’s more, but I think we’d be here for quite some time! It’s important to make some time for yourself, because you matter and self-care is NOT selfish.

What do you like to do when you need time for yourself? Did you get some new ideas from here? Or did you not realise you might already be practising some self-care without realising it? Let me know in the comments!

Might I suggest spending some time this bank holiday for yourself? Have a good one my lovelies!

Sunshine Blogger Award

Sunshine Blogger Award

Happy Saturday my lovelies! This week I had the lovely surprise of being given the Sunshine Blogger Award by the very lovely Abbie! I love these posts, they bring the blogging community together and we all get to know more about on another.

Before I start this post, I just want to say, I’d definitely recommend reading Abbie’s Sunshine Blogger Award posts here! From her post I found out we share a love of Emily Blunt, people watching and we certainly share the same sentiment when it comes to running.. or lack of running.. haha! Abbie talks about all sorts on her blog and her writing is so engaging, so it was an honour being nominated by her for this!
Sunshine Blogger Award photo

So, the idea behind the sunshine award is to highlight and nominate bloggers that you believe spread positivity, kindness and that are, put simply, rays of sunshine!

The rules go like this:

  • If you’ve been nominated, it means you’ve been given the award! So, congrats and well done!!
  • You must thank the blogger that nominated you and link back to their blog or their original post.
  • List the rules for this award and a snazzy logo or picture of it in your blog post.
  • Answer the 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you.
  • Nominate 11 more bloggers and set 11 fun questions for them to answer.

Onto my questions from the lovely Abbie:

1 . What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

Funnily enough this is a piece of advice, or maybe you could call it a quote, from Stuart Little of all things! Every cloud has a silver lining. So I try and make at least one person smile a day, I love positivity and try my best to radiate it! And it’s a great reminder that if you can look on the brighter side, things do seem brighter!

2 . The strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

As a fussy eater, this one isn’t strange at all, but I can’t think of anything strange I’ve eaten; I think I once ate a worm when I was tiny? Haha! But a few of my friends thought it was weird that I like cheese and apple sandwiches.. which isn’t weird at all I later found out from loads of people who eat them!

3 . If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what rule would you make?

Ooo hard one! I guess it’d have to be that everyone is treated equally! A girl can dream no? Now that I think about it, also that war and violence is never an option! I don’t mind being naïve with these sorts of things, because it helps me to stay positive!

4 . What is your favourite smell?

Freshly baked bread or cake, coffee, fresh and warm laundry along with oranges!

5 . What would be your dream meal? Including starters, main course, dessert and drinks?

For starters it’d have to be.. freshly baked bread with butter (can’t go wrong with a classic, right?). My main course would be a roast dinner, it’s my all time favourite meal and I could eat it 365 days a year easily! And for dessert it’d have to be a chocolate soufflé with pralines and cream ice cream, anything warm and chocolatey is just a dream for my sweet tooth! The drinks to top it all off would be a Disaronno and fresh orange juice; I asked a bar tender to recommend a drink for someone who like Disaronno and that’s what I was given.. trust me, it’s delicious!

6 . Who are your five dream dinner guests?

There’s too many people to pick from! Is it too cheesy to say the Fab Five from Netflix’s Queer Eye? Or it’d be Michelle Obama, Anna Kendrick, Emily Blunt, James Corden and Chris Pratt. It’d be a pretty great dinner party if I say so myself.

7 . What film/book could you watch/read again and again and not get bored of it?

Legally Blonde has to have a mention here since I’m watching the first and second one for the fifth time in a row whilst I’m writing this.. and I am not sorry! It’s a great film about women breaking stereotypes in my opinion and is just such an easy breezy watch! And of course all of the Harry Potter books/films, I’m a huge potter head and am hoping to go back to the studio tours again next year!

giphy

8 . Do you believe in ghosts and the paranormal?

To this day I’m still on the fence! Part of me hopes there are ghosts and that the paranormal world does exist out of pure curiosity, but I’m a huge scaredy cat so part of me hopes not!

9 . If money and time weren’t a problem what skill would you like to learn?

Carpentry. I love creativity and I’m always thinking of ways to upcycle and change furniture, but sometimes my ideas are a bit too ambitious compared to my lack of skills with powers tools other than an electric drill! Haha!

10 . Are you a morning or a night person?

I used to be a morning person who would get up at 5AM EVERY DAMN MORNING. Then I became more of a night person.. but now I’m a bit in between and wake up around 7am! I love my bed and sleep a bit too much, so for me, an early night in is usually on the cards!

11 . Where would be your dream holiday destination?

There’s too many! I’d love to go to Canada though, I’ve not travelled too far away from the UK so Canada, America, China and Japan are on my bucket list!

Alright, so my questions are:

  1. What’s your go-to self care tip?
  2. What did you want to be when you were little?
  3. If you play an instrument, which one? Or.. what instrument would you like to play?
  4. Is there a quote you live by? If so, what is it?
  5. If you could only eat one meal, three times a day for the rest of your life, what’d it be?
  6. What’s one of your favourite childhood memories?
  7. Why did you start blogging?
  8. If you could step in the shoes of anyone for a day (like in Freaky Friday haha) who would it be?
  9. What 3 words would you use to represent your personal style?
  10. What gives you that extra spring in your step in the morning?
  11. If you were stuck on an island, who would you want to be there with you?

My nominees are:

And that’s just a small group of the amazing bloggers that deserve this award! Be sure to check them and their blogs out! You won’t regret it, trust me! Oh and if you share your Sunshine Blogger Award posts on twitter be sure to tag me @weightofmywrlds so I can retweet them and spread the love!

Being nominated for awards like these always bring a huge smile to my face and will keep me smiling for ages, and its a great motivation to keep improving and writing! What’s something little that brought a smile to your face in the last week? Let me know in the comments!!

Have a great weekend my lovelies, and Happy Easter!

Birthday Reflections.

Birthday Reflections.

Thursday was my birthday!! Which means I ate cake, got pampered and did a bit of reflecting on what I want for the next year of my life. I guess it’s a little like new years resolutions but without the guilt if you break them. Reflecting on what I want for myself in the next months is something I’ve never really done before, but the time just feels right.

So, lets get into it!

1 . I am learning (and loving) how to be unapologetically myself.

2 . I want to wear whatever I want, no matter how wacky, weird or boring without fear of being judged, because my opinion is the only one that matters when it comes to my appearance!

Birthday Outfit

How cute was my birthday outfit?! I love that jumper and accessories so much!

3 . Not feeling guilty for any food I eat or workouts that I don’t do.

4 . Be proud of myself for my little achievements.

5 . I want to schedule away at least one day a month for a selfcare day.

6 . Continue to push myself out of my comfort zone and try more new things.

7 . I want to read more books, I love reading but struggle to find stories I get sucked into, so I am on a mission to find some new books!

8 . Learning to love my hair when it’s natural and style it without heat.

9 . Continue blogging as it has brought me so much joy, and I love being creative!

10 . Giving people compliments when I like something about them, whether it’s a piece of clothing, their personality, attitude and/or anything really. It’s always nice bringing a smile to someone’s face, and you never know how much of a difference it can make to someone’s day.

Well, that’s what I’m going to be doing for this upcoming year, and I can’t wait to see what it’s going to throw at me! And I cant wait to see where I’m at in another years time.

So here’s to being another year older, wiser, happier and more comfortable in my own skin. Have a great weekend everyone!!

What Is Classed As Selfcare?

What Is Classed As Selfcare?

It’s #SelfcareWeek ! And it’s got me thinking, what do we actually think classes as selfcare? For me, I typically start thinking about face masks and bubble baths. And well yes that can be classed as selfcare; but as amazing as those things are, there are hundreds of other things you can do. And over the last few days, I’ve been partaking in a few of these myself.

The thought for this post came to me whilst I was walking home from the gym; it occurred to me that even though I think of lots of luxurious things as self-care, there are lots of small things I do for myself that make me feel good, and these count too.

Here’s a few things I’ve been doing for myself that aren’t always considered self-care:

  • Going to the gym, and doing what I want there, if I don’t feel like doing the stair climber today, I just don’t do it and I refuse to feel guilty about it!)
  • Buying myself a hot chocolate when walking home after going to the gym.
  • Putting on my moisturizer.
  • Listening to the Peptalk app (I highly recommend this one for when you’re commuting and walking anywhere, it’s a great motivational tool!)
  • Watching videos by Glamour, Ladylike, As/Is and the Try Guys.
  • Self Affirmations.
  • Watching Nikkietutorials (believe it or not I watch Nikkie’s videos when I’m at the gym and they make me so happy!)
  • Cleaning my room.
  • Playing with makeup.
  • Putting on makeup when I’m not going anywhere!
  • Lighting scented candles.
  • Having a bubble bath.
  • Unfollowing any social media profiles that make me feel bad about myself.
  • Watching my favourite films.
  • Cooking my favourite food.
  • Singing in the shower.
  • Talking to friends.
  • Finishing work ON TIME.
  • Related to the above – not looking at work emails when I’m off work.
  • Making myself a great breakfast.
  • Blogging.
  • Painting, drawing and being creative.
  • Getting 7/8 hours sleep.
  • Wearing thermal socks.
  • Using a 99p face mask.
  • Chatting to my sister.
  • Seeing my Niece and Nephew on FaceTime reeking havoc in my sisters house.
  • Driving round to look at Christmas Lights when they go up.
  • Making myself a cup of tea.
  • Meeting up with friends for a chat/food/movies (basically spending time with the important people in your life)
  • Wearing my favourite clothes.

Honestly the list could go on and on. I love selfcare, sometimes I do still feel selfish or guilty for spending time on ourselves, but we really shouldn’t. We’re stuck with ourselves for life so we better take care of that person we see in the mirror.

And at the end of the day, if something makes you happy and feel good, it’s probably your own version of selfcare. We’re all different so it’s impossible to say that one thing will work for everyone; telling someone to go take a bubble bath to relax if they hate having baths is pretty pointless. It’s a personal thing.

Some of the things in my list you might not consider to be selfcare, but for me, they are. Just doing one small thing for yourself a day can make such a difference to your mood and wellbeing. And myself from a year ago would say something along the lines of “I’ll start next week or in the new year”, but that’s not how I think anymore, the time to start is now.

That’s all from me today, I’m off to go get myself a hot chocolate and sit in a blanket with a book. Have a great weekend lovelies! You’re all amazing!

Why I Started Blogging

Why I Started Blogging

Hello my lovelies! I can’t believe we’re in November already!

So, I’ve been blogging for a few months now, and something I get asked quite often when people I know find out I have a blog is why did I start blogging? What pushed me into pursuing blogging for myself?

Well, this week I’m going to let you into the reasons what made me want to start theweightofmyworlds and what pushed me to actually going forward and creating/publishing my blog!

Part of the idea to start blogging came after reading many blogs and thinking about how amazing and fun they look to write. When the initial thought popped into my head to begin my own blog I thought maybe I should just treat it like a sort of journal or diary of my life? And then I thought back to doing English at school and never being amazing and doubted my ability to write.. however, even though I wasn’t great at the typical English lessons it did occur to me that I was pretty good at writing as if I were talking to people and doing some creative writing.

As you can imagine, all of these thoughts to start writing popped into my head as I were about to go to sleep (which is when I seem to get the most motivation to do stuff, am I the only one with this??). So, I decided to type the general idea into my phone reminders so it would pop up in the morning and actually remind me of last nights idea to start my blog, which it did.

For a few weeks after this I then put off beginning my blog because I still doubted myself a bit and I just needed that extra push. And that came in the form of my younger sister Phoebe.

Phoebe
Here’s my younger sister Phoebe, without her giving me one of my initial ideas to start blogging, I wouldn’t be where I am today!

Well believe it or not what pushed me into starting my own blog was when I thought of a project I wanted to do to help my sister as she was growing up (she’s growing up way too fast for my liking!). I wanted to create her a sort of ‘guide’ for everything that she’ll go through growing up and going through school. And then it occurred to me that that can become easily outdated and with technology moving forward so quickly that maybe I should just go for it and create my own blog that she can visit for advice and general life stuff.

Whilst all of this was swimming round in my head, a bit of a life re-adjustment (well I guess that’s what I would call it?) happened for me. That was the final push I needed to really kick start what you’re reading this on today!

The life adjustment that pushed me to start my own blog was that I began my own recovery journey from an eating disorder. I know, heavy stuff.. I’ll be brief (there’s previous posts about this you can find on here anyway) and I thought that writing my story and things that I go through would help me in that recovery. And that’s part of why my blog is called ‘The Weight Of My Worlds’.

Since beginning my blog it has allowed me to really own what I want to talk about. I love speaking up about body positivity, de-bunking fads that do no good to our mental health, talking about fashion, food, fun projects from Pinterest that are actually feasible.. telling you all about my weird, wonderful and down right funny life experiences and generally interacting with this amazing community that I have been welcomed into with open arms.

I was actually planning on writing this post for my blog’s one year anniversary, but I decided that what better time to talk about how far The Weight Of My Worlds and I have come than now. Reflecting on your achievements and what/who pushed you towards doing great things not only for yourself but others too is a great thing that we shouldn’t have to make a plan or schedule talking about it. Any time is a great time to celebrate your own victories! Especially the small ones, they all add up to great memories.

Why did you start blogging? What do you love about it? Let me know in the comments!

And with that my lovelies, that’s all from me today! Have a great weekend everyone!

7 Things About Me:

  • I was born up north, I’ve moved around 10 times in my lifetime and currently reside in Cambridgeshire. I’ve lived here for a few years now and like it here; I’ve got family up and down the country but here will always feeling like home.
  • I never went to university; and it’s something I sometimes wish I did, but at the end of the day, I’m very happy where I am now!
  • I love art, drawing, painting, sculpting, photography and basically anything creative! I’ve loved art lessons since I was 5 years old; and it’s something I do regularly to relax and unwind.
  • I never thought I would start blogging. It was something I’d wanted to do for a very long time but didn’t have the confidence or website know how to do anything about it. But being such a creative person I’m glad I pushed myself to pursue it because I absolutely love it.
  • I want to write a book. I’m not sure what exactly about, just that it will be a sci-fi fantasy action thriller novel of some form. It’s something I’ve thought about quite a lot over the last few months and I think I’m going to make a start on something soon.
  • Christmas is by far my favourite time of year. It’s the lights, the music, the food (oh the food is so so good), spending time with your loved ones, the ugly and funny jumpers, watching loved ones open gifts that will make them smile and being able to wear so many comfy layers of clothes that it’s like I’m still in my bed!
  • I could survive off roast dinners and Chinese food for the rest of my life. I can happily cook a roast chicken dinner everyday and I would not get sick of it. It’s like I have a whole other stomach for that stuff haha!

Now you know some things about me, it’s time for me to pass on some more love to some amazing bloggers that deserve some recognition and a nomination!

Hello my lovelies! Who’s in the mood for some cake? Because this week I’ll be giving you my recipe for a big rainbow cake! And to make this cake even better (because who doesn’t like rainbow cake..) this recipe can be diary free should you need it to be!!

This cake is a simple vanilla sponge cake and can be adapted for any flavour of cake! I use this for all of my cakes and I’ve never had someone not like it. You can also make this into cupcakes – I’ll probably do a cupcake recipe soon too.

So, here’s what the cake looks like:

Rainbow Cake

Looks pretty tasty doesn’t it!

Right, onto what you’re going to need, I’ve put together a shopping list you can download here!

For the cake:

  • 9 oz Salted Butter (it can be spreadable or not, I used Vitalite as my mum is intolerant to buttermilk!)
  • 9 oz Caster Sugar
  • 9 oz Self-Raising Flour (make sure you save a little flour to thicken up your cake batter if you need it!)
  • 6 Large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Red, Orange, Green, Purple and Blue Food Gels (these can be found in sets or separately)
  • Baking Paper
  • Cake tins (2 minimum, I used 6, but it can be done with 2!)
  • A cake stand or plate to put the cake on!

For the icing:

  • Salted Butter (I eye-balled this and made more icing when needed)
  • Icing sugar (I eye-balled this too, but would recommend getting 2 large bags of icing sugar, this icing is all personal preference!)
  • Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue Food Gels
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • White chocolate icing tubes – I got these from Tesco (pipe dairy free chocolate if you’re making this dairy free!)
  • Any other decorations you want to use! (I used smarties)

So, onto making the cake! Here’s a quick clip of the process!

1 . Pre-heat the oven to 180°C for fan-assisted ovens or 200°C for other ovens.

2 . Lay out baking paper on the worktop and draw around the bottom of your cake tins and cut them out, I recommend cutting out the baking paper like this: Baking paper After this I grease my baking tins and put the grease proof paper into the tins shiny side up. Then put the tins aside for a bit later.

3 . Measure out all of your ingredients. When making this cake I luckily had access to 6 cake tins, but if you’ve only got 2 tins don’t worry, to bake your cake in batches of two cake layers, use measurements of 3 oz per ingredient and repeat this another 2 times, which will give you 6 layers of cake.

4 . Add the butter and sugar into a big mixing bowl and cream them together.

5 . Then sift in the flour , pour in the eggs, add the vanilla extract and mix together. I usually start mixing with a wooden spoon and then move onto using an electric whisk. If the cake batter is too runny then you can add a little more flour. (I love how you can just chuck everything in the bowl with this recipe!).

6 . Once the batter is mixed, separate the batter into bowls into equal parts for however many tins you’re using.

7 . Then, add in the food colouring gels! I used quite a lot to make my cake extra bright, but it’s up to you how much you use!

8 . Pour your batter into your tins and smooth it around to make sure it’s evenly dispersed. (When you pour in the batter, it may seem like you’ve not got enough, but the cake will rise a little and you don’t want the layers too thick or the cake will topple over!).

9 . Bake the cakes for 13-15 minutes and check they’re cooked through with something small and sharp, I use toothpicks, if it has no batter on it, it’s cooked! Take out the cakes and place them on a cooling rack.

10 . Repeat stages 1-9 twice if you’re using 2 tins per time! When you’ve taken your yellow cake out of the tin, use a knife (or cookie cutter) to cut out a circle from the middle. Then slice the cake in half; this will leave you with two rainbow layers for the top of the cake! Then you can go ahead and snack on the circle of cake you just cut out haha.

11 . Whilst your cakes are baking and cooling, it’s time to make the butter cream! This one doesn’t have specific measurements as everyone has their own preference for how they like their buttercream to taste. I use quite a large amount of butter and icing sugar.

12 . I begin mixing the butter and icing sugar together with a fork so the icing sugar doesn’t create a huge icing sugar cloud, and once most of the icing sugar is mixed in I go in with an electric whisk to make the buttercream light and fluffy.

13 . Put about 4/5 of the buttercream into a piping bag (you can use a sandwich bag if you haven’t got one! Or you can get a box of disposable ones from Tesco). Then begin by putting a small amount of icing onto the cake stand/plate to stick your blue layer of cake onto the stand/plate.

14 . Then pipe layers of icing onto each cake layer, the colours should go (bottom to top): Blue, Purple, Green, Orange and finally Red. Then cover the top and sides of the cake in buttercream and smooth out as best as you can.

15 . To help smooth out the buttercream further I use baking paper, shiny side to the cake, and use your hand against the paper to smooth over the icing.

16 . After you’ve smoothed out the cake, ice the two rainbow shaped layers together, add icing to the top layers of the rainbow shape and put on top of the cake and smooth over with baking paper.

17 . Separate the left over buttercream into 5 bowls and add in the food colouring gels.

18 . Put the coloured icing into different piping bags or sandwich bags and pipe over the rainbow to give it some colour!

19 . The add on some white mini marshmallows onto the bottom of the rainbow so it looks like clouds.

20 . Then warm up the white chocolate icing tubes (follow the instructions on the tubes for preparing them) and squeeze drips over the edge of the cake and cover the top layer.

21 . Finally, decorate with any sweets you want and enjoy!

Here’s how it looks when it’s finished!

I hope you like how this cake looks and tastes!! If you decide to make this yourself then please tag me in any photos you put on instagram @theweightofmyworlds or on twitter @worldsweights, I’d love to see your cake creations!

Have a lovely week everyone, you’re the best! Love,
