My Favourite Fun Outfits.

My Favourite Fun Outfits.

Hello my lovelies! How’s everyone’s quarantine going? For me, I’m at the end of week 3 because my mum came down with what we believe to be the virus since she had all of the symptoms! I know a lot of people are really struggling at the moment with being bored at home, and most of us are staying in our pyjamas every single day and forgetting about all of the cool fun things we have in our wardrobes! Well I have personally decided that I will not be wearing pyjamas every single day (maybe only 2-3 days a week).

Because working from home can feel a little boring at times and lonely, I have decided to bring more fun into getting ready to go those 4 steps from my bed to my desk in the morning, by wearing cute fun outfits I absolutely adore!

And with that, let’s get into my favourite fun outfits!

Outfit number 1 : My Lucy and Yak dungarees with my embroidered converse and some super cute fruit earrings! Sunglasses optional 😉

These dungarees are so bright and you can’t help but smile when you’re wearing them. This outfit is perfect for those duller rainy days when all you want to do is fast forward to when this is all over.

Outfit number 2 : All black everything and glitter boots!

This outfit is essentially the embodiment of one of my favourite quotes

Every cloud has a silver lining

– I think Stuart Little is where I remember first hearing this, and it just stuck with me!

This all black outfit is great for those days when you really can’t be bothered to think about your look, but still want to have that pop of fun, which is what these boots were made for! I tend to pair this with a beanie to keep me warm whilst I’m sat on my laptop all day, cosy and cute!

Outfit number 3 : Super cute dungarees from Run and Fly!

These are my favourite thing in my wardrobe right now, they are so much fun, are so comfy and make me feel incredible! Plus they’re made from a small uk business?! Paired with these lilac boots from asos (got these in the sale with the glitter boots for around £40 in total – bargain!) or my cute Dr Martens (£15 from someone on Facebook practically brand new?!) I feel like this outfit is so so me, and I’m completely here for it.

Outfit number 4 : More dungarees from the lovely Run and Fly!

Of course I couldn’t let you forget about these adorable dungarees that you saw last week! In case you couldn’t tell, I’m totally going through a dungaree moment right now. They are so comfy and for those days when it’s hard getting out of your pj’s, why not just put on an adorable pair of dungarees which are essentially onesies that are acceptable to wear out in public?

Outfit number 5 : Soft girl cargo pants and beanie vibes.

It’s amazing what vibes different outfits can give off. We’ve just gone from bubbly carefree, to slightly more e-girl esc to cute, to nature gal vibes all the way to soft-girl vibes. All because of a change in colour palette. These cargo jogger pant things are super comfy and because they’re high waisted they feel like pyjama bottoms, a big win from me! I paired these with a cute crop tee and my baby pink beanie for that soft cutsey vibe, perfect for when you’re sat there just chilling out.

Outfit number 6 : Vintage shirts and mom jeans.

I think most of us must have at least one shirt in their wardrobe that they don’t wear too often. For me, I wear my black and white shirt more than I do my bright one, because sometimes I struggle for outfit inspiration, but now is the perfect time to try ideas out! I like wearing these with leggings like oversized shirt dresses because they’re pretty long or I tuck them into mom jeans with a long sleeve top underneath because it’s still chilly in Cambridgeshire right now.

I always like to think about the positive sides to every single situation; so even though we’re stuck inside at the moment which isn’t ideal, lets use this time we have to experiment with our style more! You never know, you might just find a new favourite outfit out of it!

And at the very least, you’ll have more fun. (And all of those zoom meetings can be a bit more entertaining showing off your looks!)

Also if you’re a makeup lover whose got stuck in a bit of a routine look rut, don’t be afraid of mixing up your makeup! At the end of the day, when else are you going to have all of this time to work out what you like to wear and what makes you feel your best and most confident version of yourself.

What’s your favourite outfit that puts a smile on your face? Let me know in the comments or tag me in your instagram posts @theweightofmyworlds so I can follow you and hype you up!

And with all of that said and done, I’ll leave you with this:

Never underestimate the power of a good outfit on a bad day.

Have a great weekend my lovelies and please stay safe! We’re all in this together and will get through this!

Lots of love,

The Sun: Living With Our Star – London Science Museum Trip!

The Sun: Living With Our Star – London Science Museum Trip!

Hello my lovelies! So about two weeks ago now I was invited for breakfast at the London Science Museum to view their new exhibition – The Sun: Living With Our Star, and how it has changed/impacted us over the years and will in the future. This was actually the second time I got to go to this exhibition; because I went at the very beginning of February with Matt, and we loved it, so when I got the chance to go back and take my family, I jumped at the opportunity. Photo 17-02-2019, 2 41 31 pm

I’ll start with a little info about the exhibition itself. The show is up until the 6th May 2019, and tickets are from £15 and kids under 16 years old go for free! (Bargain if you ask me). The exhibition has a few interactive displays which my family and I found great fun, and I learnt loads of new things about the sun that I didn’t know before. So, here’s what I have to say about it.

Firstly, I’d definitely recommend you go and see it! It’s a great day out for not only yourself, but also your family! Every piece in the exhibition is beautiful, unique and just darn right fascinating!

One thing I learnt is what to take (and what not to take) in the event of a solar storm. I also learnt how to read two types of sun dials..who needs watches anyway?!

Photo 03-02-2019, 7 57 59 pm

Photo 02-02-2019, 10 15 11 amThere’s several rooms in the exhibition and one of those is an indoor beach which was very pretty and relaxing, also – no sunburn so no sun-cream needed! After having a little sit down on the beach loungers I got to virtually try on some sunglasses from different places and times around the world. If you go and try on the glasses, take a photo and add it to your instagram story and tag me (@theweightofmyworlds) and the science museum (@sciencemuseum), I’d love to see your snaps!

I got to see what time the sun rises and sets in different countries on different days, this display was beautiful! In contrast to that, I saw this bizarre bed without a mattress, it looks like some sort of medieval torture device but was actually used to treat sun stroke.

I’ll stop going on about how cool (or should I be saying hot? Hahaha) the exhibition was now and let some of the photos I took speak for themselves, but you aren’t seeing everything.. you’ve got to go and check it out for yourselves!

They have a great gift shop by the way, and the London Science Museum has even curated a new book called ‘The Sun: One Thousand Years Of Scientific Imagery’ with a huge number of incredible images not only of the sun but everything related to the sun!

After the exhibition, we went and had a wander round the rest of the museum and then had coffee and cake in one of their lovely cafes! I hope you enjoy the museum; if you go (which you should..) be sure to let me know and tag me in any of your photos you post! Once we’d had a good chill out and snack, we went and visited a few of the other museums and made a weekend of it!

I hope you enjoyed today’s post my lovelies, it was an absolute pleasure to visit the London Science Museum and write this post. I know you’ll all love it if you go!

Have a great weekend everyone! Where do you like going for days out? Let me know in the comments!!

Elf On The Shelf Games

Elf On The Shelf Games

Merry Christmas everyone! The kids are soon breaking up for the Christmas holidays which means not only planning what you’ve bought/buying them, but coming up with fun ways to get the kids in the Christmas spirit! That’s why I’ve come up with 6 easy games you can do with the kids with your ‘Elf on the Shelf’!

Let’s get into it!

1 . Candy Canes ‘n Baubles! (Noughts and Crosses).Candy Canes and Baubles Noughts and Crosses

This one’s a simple and easy one to create; it’s a Christmas version of noughts and crosses and if you wanted to do this one over a few days I’m sure your Elf will take his turn whilst the kids are asleep! And if you wanted you can make the grid even bigger, add more baubles and candy canes!

2 . Candy Cane Treasure Hunt.Candy Cane Hunt

Here’s a great game that can be played over and over again with the help of your Scout Elf! I think all kids like a good treasure hunt don’t they?! And with candy canes being so cheap, why not do a treasure hunt with them! You can even swap the candy canes for other treats or even mini Christmas crackers.

3 . Elf – Who am I?

Spider Elf Dress UpSpider Elf Dress Up

This game takes a little more prep than the others; but I promise it’ll be worth it! This game is great fun for both adults and kids; it involves picking a celebrity, character or other famous person etc. and dressing up your Elf as that person and getting your loved ones to guess who your Scout Elf is!

4 . Where’s Elfie?

Where's Elfy?Where's Elfy?

My family loved this one, partly because we love a certain series of books that sound like ‘Where’s Holly?'(you get the idea) … if your kids have loads of toys, put them in a group and hide your Elf within the toys and give the kids the challenge of finding their Scout! This game can be repeated several times and you can add a time limit for searching to add a little suspense.

5 . DIY Elf Bed! DIY Elf Bed

Since your lovely ‘Elf on the Shelf’ will be staying with you over the Christmas period, you’ll want them to be comfortable when they’re having a nap; so why not use some of those boxes from all of your Christmas shopping and make your Elf his very own bed! You could even make him a house if you wanted!

6 . Riddle, Elf Book or Joke Hunt!Elf Book Hunt

I love this one, it can be used as a cute morning ‘Elf on the Shelf’ prop and for a game. For this game all you have to do is make as many little Elf books as you want, write in them (in very tiny handwriting..) either riddles, puns or parts to a story, and hide them around your house! If you’d like this can be a daily thing with one tiny book hidden per day for the kids to find!

All of the games and activities can be altered and tweaked to suit you and your family. A few more activities you could do with your ‘Elf on the Shelf’ are:

  • Elf portraits
  • Elf hide and seek
  • Making the perfect Elf dinner
  • Building an house/cottage for your Elf
  • Making your Elf their own special table for their Christmas dinner

Those are just a few extra ideas you can have a go at! And please let me know if you try any of these out and which one is your favourite. Oh, and don’t forget to register your Scout Elf and receive your adoption certificate and a special message from Santa! I hope you enjoyed this post my lovelies, and have a very Merry Christmas!
