My Favourite Fun Outfits.

My Favourite Fun Outfits.

Hello my lovelies! How’s everyone’s quarantine going? For me, I’m at the end of week 3 because my mum came down with what we believe to be the virus since she had all of the symptoms! I know a lot of people are really struggling at the moment with being bored at home, and most of us are staying in our pyjamas every single day and forgetting about all of the cool fun things we have in our wardrobes! Well I have personally decided that I will not be wearing pyjamas every single day (maybe only 2-3 days a week).

Because working from home can feel a little boring at times and lonely, I have decided to bring more fun into getting ready to go those 4 steps from my bed to my desk in the morning, by wearing cute fun outfits I absolutely adore!

And with that, let’s get into my favourite fun outfits!

Outfit number 1 : My Lucy and Yak dungarees with my embroidered converse and some super cute fruit earrings! Sunglasses optional 😉

These dungarees are so bright and you can’t help but smile when you’re wearing them. This outfit is perfect for those duller rainy days when all you want to do is fast forward to when this is all over.

Outfit number 2 : All black everything and glitter boots!

This outfit is essentially the embodiment of one of my favourite quotes

Every cloud has a silver lining

– I think Stuart Little is where I remember first hearing this, and it just stuck with me!

This all black outfit is great for those days when you really can’t be bothered to think about your look, but still want to have that pop of fun, which is what these boots were made for! I tend to pair this with a beanie to keep me warm whilst I’m sat on my laptop all day, cosy and cute!

Outfit number 3 : Super cute dungarees from Run and Fly!

These are my favourite thing in my wardrobe right now, they are so much fun, are so comfy and make me feel incredible! Plus they’re made from a small uk business?! Paired with these lilac boots from asos (got these in the sale with the glitter boots for around £40 in total – bargain!) or my cute Dr Martens (£15 from someone on Facebook practically brand new?!) I feel like this outfit is so so me, and I’m completely here for it.

Outfit number 4 : More dungarees from the lovely Run and Fly!

Of course I couldn’t let you forget about these adorable dungarees that you saw last week! In case you couldn’t tell, I’m totally going through a dungaree moment right now. They are so comfy and for those days when it’s hard getting out of your pj’s, why not just put on an adorable pair of dungarees which are essentially onesies that are acceptable to wear out in public?

Outfit number 5 : Soft girl cargo pants and beanie vibes.

It’s amazing what vibes different outfits can give off. We’ve just gone from bubbly carefree, to slightly more e-girl esc to cute, to nature gal vibes all the way to soft-girl vibes. All because of a change in colour palette. These cargo jogger pant things are super comfy and because they’re high waisted they feel like pyjama bottoms, a big win from me! I paired these with a cute crop tee and my baby pink beanie for that soft cutsey vibe, perfect for when you’re sat there just chilling out.

Outfit number 6 : Vintage shirts and mom jeans.

I think most of us must have at least one shirt in their wardrobe that they don’t wear too often. For me, I wear my black and white shirt more than I do my bright one, because sometimes I struggle for outfit inspiration, but now is the perfect time to try ideas out! I like wearing these with leggings like oversized shirt dresses because they’re pretty long or I tuck them into mom jeans with a long sleeve top underneath because it’s still chilly in Cambridgeshire right now.

I always like to think about the positive sides to every single situation; so even though we’re stuck inside at the moment which isn’t ideal, lets use this time we have to experiment with our style more! You never know, you might just find a new favourite outfit out of it!

And at the very least, you’ll have more fun. (And all of those zoom meetings can be a bit more entertaining showing off your looks!)

Also if you’re a makeup lover whose got stuck in a bit of a routine look rut, don’t be afraid of mixing up your makeup! At the end of the day, when else are you going to have all of this time to work out what you like to wear and what makes you feel your best and most confident version of yourself.

What’s your favourite outfit that puts a smile on your face? Let me know in the comments or tag me in your instagram posts @theweightofmyworlds so I can follow you and hype you up!

And with all of that said and done, I’ll leave you with this:

Never underestimate the power of a good outfit on a bad day.

Have a great weekend my lovelies and please stay safe! We’re all in this together and will get through this!

Lots of love,

Having Confidence To Be Yourself.

Having Confidence To Be Yourself.

Hello my lovelies! I hope you had a good week! This week has been super busy as usual, but I did manage to have a little time to see my sister, niece and nephew! And with seeing them, my sister brought me some funky new earrings that I absolutely adore. Which leads me to today’s post, having confidence to be yourself, no matter what others think.

Lucy and Yaks Dungarees

So, this week I decided to talk to you about confidence. Specifically in having confidence in being yourself regardless of other people’s opinions.

For me, I can remember being tiny and having absolutely zero self-esteem issues and having complete confidence in myself and giving no fucks. And I can also remember when I began giving all of the fucks to what people thought about me and my appearance.

Sadly that day came in primary school when all of the year 6 girls (myself included) got to wear their Brownie uniforms to school. I had no care in the world about how I looked, I was just happy I got to wear something other than my usual uniform; and then came a comment from one of the kids in my class, it was something along the lines of: “why are you wearing those pants? You look stupid”.

And poof. Insecurities as far as the eyes could see.

Several years of bullying throughout school later, all I wanted was to fit in. And then a few years working in two different jobs types, and spending some time working on myself away from negative people.

dungarees balloon sleeve top

As time went on, my confidence has grown quite a lot, and I think that is partly due to ‘The Weight Of My Worlds’! I say partly but I think that’s actually a huge factor for me.

Something just clicked in me one day and I decided that from then on I was going to be completely apologetically myself. Regardless of what other people think, because someone who’s worth spending your time with will only lift you up and not put you down.

My tips for building confidence in yourself are:

  1. Looking at yourself in the mirror, as you are, without makeup, without fancy clothes, just as you are. Get used to you and your appearance.
  2. Don’t be afraid to be weird when you’re by yourself, be as weird as you want to be by yourself so much so that when you’re with your loved ones you start being yourself more because you’re more comfortable with yourself.
  3. Fake it til you make it! I love this phrase because it’s something that I’ve done for a long time and it definitely helped me in my early days trying to build my confidence. It’s also a good one for anxiety!
  4. Wear whatever you want to. Wanna wear a skirt? Wear a skirt. Wanna wear a suit? Wear a suit. Wanna wear crazy patterns. Wear em. Wear what makes you happy!
  5. Do a complete detox. Anything that doesn’t make you feel good, get rid! Social media was a big one for me, so I unfollowed all of the accounts that made me feel bad about myself and followed loads of positive ones that made me feel good.

So, what’re some things that I do now that I wouldn’t before?

Well, for a start, I now don’t care about what people think of my appearance or personality anymore; because I am me and guess what? I’m pretty great as I am.

How else do I know I’m more confident than before? Well, I would never pose or do photoshoots where other people could see me, and now I am not afraid to strike a pose in public!

Gumball earrings

Another thing that’s changed is that I’m not afraid to wear whatever wacky, weird and quirky things I want. At the moment I’m really into crazy shoes and jewellery! My sister gave me these awesome gumball machine earrings that I can’t get enough of!

So, that’s a bit about how my confidence has gone through ups and downs and ups again and how I have improved my confidence! Have you got any tips and tricks that make you feel more confident? Let me know in the comments!

And remember, you are perfect just as you are. Be apologetically yourself because you’re incredible! Be bright, be bold, be you!

Have a great weekend my lovelies!

Finding My Style.

Finding My Style.

Hello my lovelies! I hope you’ve all had a good week so far and are wrapping up warm in the snowy weather we’ve been having!

So, since making my new years resolutions and reflecting on what I want for the year on my birthday, I’ve been on a bit of a self-discovery journey. To begin my journey I decided that I would finally break free from all of the current fashion trends and to put it simply.. wear whatever I wanted. Regardless of what other people think.

For too long I have only worn the clothes that people have given me a compliment in or if other people are wearing the same sort of thing. I never really strayed from what everyone else was wearing in my teens; because like everyone else, I just wanted to fit in.

Well, now I don’t care if I stand out. Or look weird to others.

I have been wearing whatever I want for the last few weeks and it’s seriously given me such a sense of freedom and expression. I only really realised how much I’d grown with my fashion when I was on Facetime with my sister, chatting whilst I had my own little fashion show/photoshoot and she mentioned how I’ve really grown into and found my style.

I’ve found a love of bright coloured accessories, bold patterns and outfits that I would never have put together before.Photo Of Me At 13 I do remember one time in my past where I did love bright colours, and that was in the form of tights.. neon pink to be exact. And I wore those pink tights with a black trilby, fur gilet, purple top, checked skirt and a pair of knee high black boots. Bold for a 13 year old, I know. I’ve even dug that photo out for you to laugh at, silly pose and all hahaha!

It’s actually kind of sad how our confidence disappears in our teen years. But I’m glad I’ve learnt now that fitting in isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be.

It doesn’t matter what you want to wear, you should wear whatever you want, because you want to wear it. Also, if you wear something with confidence, it immediately looks good, because you feel good in it!

I have a few favourite pieces currently that always make me feel incredible when I’m wearing them; you can check them out below!

My favourite looks

One of my absolute favourite looks is wearing all black with big, bold and bright earrings and bright shoes/boots! I’m also loving oversized clothes and unique bags!

Fashion and finding my own style has been something that I always struggled with until I stopped looking for approval in other people. What’s funny is that when I go shopping now, everything I pick up gets weird looks from whoever’s with me, but as soon as I put everything together in an outfit and wore it confidently, they loved it!

So, moral of the story is where whatever the hell you want, if it makes you feel good and confident, then you’ll look great.

After all, as the Roald Dahl quote goes:

“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sun beams and you will always look lovely.”

Have a great week lovelies!! Love,

Rainbow Cake Recipe

Rainbow Cake Recipe

Hello my lovelies! Who’s in the mood for some cake? Because this week I’ll be giving you my recipe for a big rainbow cake! And to make this cake even better (because who doesn’t like rainbow cake..) this recipe can be diary free should you need it to be!!

This cake is a simple vanilla sponge cake and can be adapted for any flavour of cake! I use this for all of my cakes and I’ve never had someone not like it. You can also make this into cupcakes – I’ll probably do a cupcake recipe soon too.

So, here’s what the cake looks like:

Rainbow Cake

Looks pretty tasty doesn’t it!

Right, onto what you’re going to need, I’ve put together a shopping list you can download here!

For the cake:

  • 9 oz Salted Butter (it can be spreadable or not, I used Vitalite as my mum is intolerant to buttermilk!)
  • 9 oz Caster Sugar
  • 9 oz Self-Raising Flour (make sure you save a little flour to thicken up your cake batter if you need it!)
  • 6 Large Eggs
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • Red, Orange, Green, Purple and Blue Food Gels (these can be found in sets or separately)
  • Baking Paper
  • Cake tins (2 minimum, I used 6, but it can be done with 2!)
  • A cake stand or plate to put the cake on!

For the icing:

  • Salted Butter (I eye-balled this and made more icing when needed)
  • Icing sugar (I eye-balled this too, but would recommend getting 2 large bags of icing sugar, this icing is all personal preference!)
  • Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Blue Food Gels
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • White chocolate icing tubes – I got these from Tesco (pipe dairy free chocolate if you’re making this dairy free!)
  • Any other decorations you want to use! (I used smarties)

So, onto making the cake! Here’s a quick clip of the process!

1 . Pre-heat the oven to 180°C for fan-assisted ovens or 200°C for other ovens.

2 . Lay out baking paper on the worktop and draw around the bottom of your cake tins and cut them out, I recommend cutting out the baking paper like this: Baking paper After this I grease my baking tins and put the grease proof paper into the tins shiny side up. Then put the tins aside for a bit later.

3 . Measure out all of your ingredients. When making this cake I luckily had access to 6 cake tins, but if you’ve only got 2 tins don’t worry, to bake your cake in batches of two cake layers, use measurements of 3 oz per ingredient and repeat this another 2 times, which will give you 6 layers of cake.

4 . Add the butter and sugar into a big mixing bowl and cream them together.

5 . Then sift in the flour , pour in the eggs, add the vanilla extract and mix together. I usually start mixing with a wooden spoon and then move onto using an electric whisk. If the cake batter is too runny then you can add a little more flour. (I love how you can just chuck everything in the bowl with this recipe!).

6 . Once the batter is mixed, separate the batter into bowls into equal parts for however many tins you’re using.

7 . Then, add in the food colouring gels! I used quite a lot to make my cake extra bright, but it’s up to you how much you use!

8 . Pour your batter into your tins and smooth it around to make sure it’s evenly dispersed. (When you pour in the batter, it may seem like you’ve not got enough, but the cake will rise a little and you don’t want the layers too thick or the cake will topple over!).

9 . Bake the cakes for 13-15 minutes and check they’re cooked through with something small and sharp, I use toothpicks, if it has no batter on it, it’s cooked! Take out the cakes and place them on a cooling rack.

10 . Repeat stages 1-9 twice if you’re using 2 tins per time! When you’ve taken your yellow cake out of the tin, use a knife (or cookie cutter) to cut out a circle from the middle. Then slice the cake in half; this will leave you with two rainbow layers for the top of the cake! Then you can go ahead and snack on the circle of cake you just cut out haha.

11 . Whilst your cakes are baking and cooling, it’s time to make the butter cream! This one doesn’t have specific measurements as everyone has their own preference for how they like their buttercream to taste. I use quite a large amount of butter and icing sugar.

12 . I begin mixing the butter and icing sugar together with a fork so the icing sugar doesn’t create a huge icing sugar cloud, and once most of the icing sugar is mixed in I go in with an electric whisk to make the buttercream light and fluffy.

13 . Put about 4/5 of the buttercream into a piping bag (you can use a sandwich bag if you haven’t got one! Or you can get a box of disposable ones from Tesco). Then begin by putting a small amount of icing onto the cake stand/plate to stick your blue layer of cake onto the stand/plate.

14 . Then pipe layers of icing onto each cake layer, the colours should go (bottom to top): Blue, Purple, Green, Orange and finally Red. Then cover the top and sides of the cake in buttercream and smooth out as best as you can.

15 . To help smooth out the buttercream further I use baking paper, shiny side to the cake, and use your hand against the paper to smooth over the icing.

16 . After you’ve smoothed out the cake, ice the two rainbow shaped layers together, add icing to the top layers of the rainbow shape and put on top of the cake and smooth over with baking paper.

17 . Separate the left over buttercream into 5 bowls and add in the food colouring gels.

18 . Put the coloured icing into different piping bags or sandwich bags and pipe over the rainbow to give it some colour!

19 . The add on some white mini marshmallows onto the bottom of the rainbow so it looks like clouds.

20 . Then warm up the white chocolate icing tubes (follow the instructions on the tubes for preparing them) and squeeze drips over the edge of the cake and cover the top layer.

21 . Finally, decorate with any sweets you want and enjoy!

Here’s how it looks when it’s finished!

I hope you like how this cake looks and tastes!! If you decide to make this yourself then please tag me in any photos you put on instagram @theweightofmyworlds or on twitter @worldsweights, I’d love to see your cake creations!

Have a lovely week everyone, you’re the best! Love,

Autumn Staples

Autumn Staples

Autumn is finally upon us! Which means colder weather, warm hearty food and Halloween. Autumn and Winter are quite possibly my favourite times of year. Actually, they definitely are. I love everything about the colder seasons; I prefer cold weather as some of you may already know (see my post about being pale in summer for reasons why!), the food, Christmas and of course the clothes.

Which brings me to this post, my Autumn Staples! (You can find all of these items at NewLook!)

First staple for the season: Tartan!

I love tartan clothes and Autumn is the best time for them. They always remind of Clueless and their outfits are so chic!

Second staple: Corduroy.

So, corduroy, it’s the fabric we all wore in the 90’s it feels like and it’s made a come back! Particularly in skirts, which is actually great because it’s quite a warm fabric and looks great paired with thick or patterned tights!

On to staple three: Burgundy, Mustard and Plum.

These are colours that come back in fashion near enough every Autumn and winter, they’re just great colours for the season.

Number four is another lot of colours: Pastels.

Pastel colours typically remind me of Winter and Spring, but I think they can look great when paired with some of the warmer, darker colours they can look great for Autumn too.

My fifth Autumn staple is: Bold patterns.

Bold patterns tend to look good throughout the year, but they seem to be making a bigger impact than usual this season! Especially check patterns!

Autumn staple six is: All black everything with bright/bold accessories.

I love how much of a statement this is. All of the focus goes on your accessories which makes picking them out in the morning a lot of fun. My personal favourite combo at the moment for this style is a baggy roll neck jumper, high waisted skinny jeans, bright red boots, bright blue bag and a bright yellow necklace. This sort of outfit goes really well with any stand out shoes and accessories to be honest, the bolder the better!

My final Autumn staple is: Comfy Jumpers.

I won’t lie, if I could get away with wearing a comfy oversized jumper, scarf, leggings, chunky socks and boots everyday, I definitely would. I love that aesthetic over all others. Pretty much because I think it can look super cute and I’m a sucker for comfort.

So that’s my Autumn staples! What are you wearing this season? Let me know in the comments or tag me in your instas @theweightofmyworlds so I can see your lovely faces and clothes! Have a great weekend everyone! Love,

Wedding Guest Outfits 2018

Wedding Guest Outfits 2018

I love weddings, partly because I’m a romantic and I love love. However, I don’t know about you, but when that invitation arrives in the post (after the initial yay someone’s getting married and has found the love of their life) one of the thoughts that come in my head is “What am I going to wear?!”. Do you get this too? I hope I’m not the only one.

As someone who pretty much lives in jeans and t-shirts, the lead up to the wedding usually involves about 1 million hours spent on Pinterest looking for outfit inspiration and another million spent looking online for that special something to wear. That’s why I’ve decided to list a few different looks for you below along with links to where you can buy them!

And then after all that time spent looking online I’ll usually order about 4 dresses, send them all back to then realise the first thing I saw was what I was actually going to wear..

Because I recently went to a wedding, last weekend to be exact, I have been on the hunt for outfits which are comfortable in this Summer heat, whilst being pretty and a little different to what you usually see at weddings.

If you’re looking for some initial inspiration for yourself, below is my Pinterest board of wedding guest looks, and here’s the link to my previous post about fashion statements.

You can get all of these outfits from ASOS! (not sponsored, I just love them!)

Here’s a few outfits I think would look great for a more casual wedding:

I love these because when I think of more casual Summer weddings I think about florals and bright colours, along with flowy soft fabrics that’ll keep you cool.

Here’s a few pieces that I think would look amazing for a smarter wedding:

I love the idea of wearing a colourful suit to a wedding, and just in general life to be honest because they can make you feel powerful, confident and sexy. Also clothing with lace, beading, embroidery and other details are good for any wedding or smart occasion in my books!

And if you’re really struggling to find something for a wedding, florals are always a safe option:

I’ve noticed that by searching through hundreds of wedding guest outfit pages online that a lot of them are in pastel colours! Now I love pastel colours, and I agree that they look good for weddings, but why aren’t more bright colours recommended online in these pages? Bright colours look good at weddings too and they won’t distract from the bride because they’ll be in a gorgeous wedding dress or suit or whatever!

At the end of the day, wear what you’re comfortable in, whether it’s a dress, jumpsuit or trousers and a blazer, after all you’ll have more fun if you aren’t worrying about how you look!

Hope this gives you some ideas if you’re off to a wedding anytime soon! Love,

Statement Fashion Ideas I Want To Try

Statement Fashion Ideas I Want To Try

Hey everyone! This week I’ve been looking at loads of stylish looks on Pinterest and have decided that I’m going to try these out this summer. There’s several accessories that I feel make these a full ‘look’; hats, bold lipstick, glasses, bold shoes and bag combo, bold clothes in general, braces/suspenders and bold jewellery.

So here’s my inspiration for the next coming weeks!

To check out more of my inspo (since you can’t see all of my pins here!) go to my Pinterest and check them out!

Obviously it’s going to be a little expensive to try all of these things out, so I’m definitely planning a trip to Primark to cut the costs down a bit and I’ll probably check out Asos and a few other online shops for ideas! And if I try out some of these things and it doesn’t work out for me, maybe I’ll do a giveaway!

(All of the images you’re going to see below are featured on my Pinterest so if you want to check out where things are from then you’ll be able to find info on them there!)

So, here’s some hats I can’t wait to find and try:

Here’s my bold Red lipstick inspo:

Here’s my inspo to try wearing glasses:

I love a bright shoe and/or bag with an outfit, especially because I wear a lot of monochrome stuff. So here’s my inspo:

I’ve always loved how suspenders look on men and women, so this is something I can’t wait to try! Here’s my inspo:

And finally… here’s some bright and bold outfits and accessories I can’t wait to try on!

I can’t wait to try out some new things and maybe develop my personal fashion style a bit further and make it a bit more fun since at the moment it’s pretty much just black and white clothes and jeans.. And considering a love colour it’s so boring at the moment!

I’ll definitely do some updates on how I find trying these new looks out and what I’ll be keeping and what I could be giving away! Bright colours always scared me when it came to fashion because I’m super pale, but recently I’ve realised that it doesn’t matter what you skin tone is or what other people think about what you’re wearing. Moral of the story is that it doesn’t matter what other people think about your style, and you should wear whatever you want and fashion is there to be experimented with!!

So that’s it from me today my lovelies.. Do you have any new style items you want to try? If so, let me know in the comments below! Have a great weekend!! Love,
